Fashionably Late Friday: Dress up. Dress down.

Saturday, February 19, 2011

An old friend of mine had the most amazingly organised wardrobe I have ever seen. It was divided into three parts - work clothes, casual clothes and evening wear. Everything was neatly folded and there was space between the clothes that were hanging. Unheard of at my place!

I tend to buy clothes that I can wear dressed up, down or to work so for me, the division between these "sets" of clothes would be blurred. Take this Bless'ed are the meek dress for example.

I have worn it casually.

I have worn it dressy too. And it is likely to be worn to the office, possibly as a top tucked into a skirt as I tend to do with my dresses.

Is the division between dressy and casual blurred for you too? And is your wardrobe super organised??

  2. Mine is really not as organized as I would want, and I don't really distiguish between different types of clothes either. It sounds like a great idea though!

  3. My wardrobe is definitely blurred. My current closet isn't actually big enough for all of my clothes, so it definitely isn't organized haha

  4. I love when pieces can be mixed casusaly and dressy. Love this dress, you look adorable :) P.S. Love the blog!

  5. I do blur the line, but there is a line there for sure. I think when you amass as many dresses as I do there have to be some that are simply too dressy for every day use, too fragile, or too long.

I can't imagine walking around in my floor length gowns, but I have pulled out some seriously formal shorter gowns and worn them around with a casual sweater...

...and yes, my closet is super organized! I spent all last weekend cleaning it out and tossing things I didn't want.

  6. I like to buy items that can be dressed up or down!. For me, it depends on what shoes I wear - sandals for casual and heels for dressy!

Loved Blessed are the Meek - one of my favourites!

  7. I was having this exact conversation with a girlfriend over the weekend. I try hard not to blur the casual/work line - but it's tough as a lot of my dresses could easily pass as work wear. It's nice to keep it separate so that you don't feel in work mode on your days off!

Love both ways for this dress though!

  8. You have the loveliest clothes! My work is casual, so most of my work clothes are also my weekend clothes, which I quite like.
