Yellow front door

I'm hooked on front doors painted in bright colours. These days whenever I come across an image in a magazine of a brightly painted front door I tear it out. I have quite the collection happening!

Brightly painted entrances are something I again don't seem to come across often in Sydney. Maybe I need to be more observant? Most front doors I see are either stained wood or white (or another similar 'safe' colour).

Today's chosen colour to show you is soft yellow on these rough and worn doors shot by photographer Anna Kern.

  1. Completely agree with you, when I get my own house I dream of having a brightly painted front door, at the moment I lust after green ones!

  3. Love painted doors, they bring such personality to a home. I wrote an Ideabook for Houzz on this topic...wonderful examples! Janell

  6. i have a friend who always paints her front door bright red! but i agree - you don't often see nicely painted entranceways. i'd love to only my front door is mainly glass and is not really a proper front door... one day, in another house, i think i'd love a turquoise one. or yellow, like this. oh! i think a nice sunny yellow might be sweet on the kids' cubby (when it gets one. it's just a frame at the moment!)

  7. I have my front door painted a powder blue, but like yourself have been leaning towards soft yellow shades. Go for it!!! What is the worst that can happen? A home owners association that tars and feathers you? :)

  9. I absolutely love the colour yellow at the moment - so I love this image. In Adelaide I've seen quite a few houses with red doors which I also love - it makes such an impact, a bold statement :)

  11. Melbourne is the same...front doors are so boring! That said, I am choosing between lime green and black, so could end up being as boring as everyone else!

  12. you need to get that trend happening!
there's a house in glebe, sydney that's painted purple with white and black cow like spots.
i think the door may be purple. they even painted the street's parking sign pole in the polka dots.
