A couple of rolls of Harlequin wallpaper arrived and I am considering how best to it. The pattern is quite busy and it may be best to cover one wall only so as not to overwhelm a room.
I wanted to ask you, what do you think of wallpaper feature walls? I love them but I know some people prefer all walls to be papered for continuity. What are your thoughts?
Wallpaper as a feature wall

blah to those people who make those rules about feature walls - especially when they go and change ther darn rule every few years!!! not sure how many times I've swapped back between writing "go a feature wall" and "forget feature walls, you must commit to colour/pattern on ALL walls" in magazine articles but I certainly don't listen anymore!
ReplyDeleteFor colour or pattern to work in a space, it depends more on how you use it, what furniture and accessories you have and the room itself rather than some "rule". Every space is different. I personally think feature walls allow you to play a little more with your furniture and accessories - too much pattern might call for a more minimal furnishing and palette. But again, depends on personal taste!
Knowing your style and palette in your home already, I think you could easily rock either look!! Beautiful choice! xx
oh viv i love both of them! Can you give me the details of them?!?
ReplyDeletei think i like all walls done but i really think it depends on the room! Definitely dont think the feature wall is a crime! ...havent been much help have i! I look forward to seeing what you do with them!

ReplyDeletewww.ledamaedesign.blogspot.com thanks for sharing lisa
I like them, i think it draws more attention to it as a work of art... which it is.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea, its such a modern, chic way to use wallpaper! Too much wallpaper gets old quite quickly I feel.
ReplyDeleteLet me first say, beautiful wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteI actually like both feature walls and all walls papered, depending on the room and the style you are going for.
Love feature walls as opposed to all walls. x
ReplyDeleteLOVE that painting you did! Had to go back and see...and I thought maybe you had painted it. SO PRETTY! Wallpaper too. I think wallpaper feature walls are pretty...the whole room might be too much for that gorg. paper.
ReplyDeleteI also love them! No need in my opinion to do all the walls.
ReplyDeleteLove it! What a beautiful choice of paper!
ReplyDeleteI say no! to trends and yes! to individuality. what will work with the room? and more importantly which wall?! Hell I'd even play with the idea of papering the whole room bar one wall, in turn turning the solid colour wall into the feature!
ReplyDeleteTime to put those spatial illusion skills to work! :D
Loving the blue wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteContinuity is one benefit to doing the entire room, but if the result is going to be overpowering, go with the accent wall. How large is the space?
I think wallpaper IS the new feature wall! Makes you appreciate the pattern and colours even more when contrasted next to painted walls.
ReplyDeleteoh I like this! It's so unique and it gives it great dimension with different patterns.
ReplyDeleteI usually prefer wallpaper as a feature wall as I find it can be too much when the whole room is done - can feel like it's closing in on you. Love the light blue colour - gorgeous!!!

I love wallpapered feature walls! Papering all walls in say a small powder room looks absolutely amazing - I can't wait to do this myself one day. But in a living room or bedroom, wallpapering one wall is a great way to draw the eye to a particular spot. I have been wanting to paper the wall behind our bed but am on the eternal search for the perfect wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteYour wallpaper is so beautiful Viv. I can imagine many a Fashion Friday photo taken in front of it!
that wallpaper is also one of my favorites at the moment! just go for the feature wall, allthough I also love it when all walls are covered in the same pattern. You can also wallpaper teh back wall of a bookshelf if you have something like that in the room, to match with the feature wall. Good luck, and I'm really looking forward the results!
