I missed the Melbourne Cup this year. They call it "the race that stops a nation" but it didn't stop me. I was pottering around the house and just lost track of the time. I forgot to bet as well. It's probably a good thing though because I never win.

Oh yes, I've won and what an experience it was. It was the races in San Francisco (in Richmond, north of SFO, if I remember correctly) and we'd gone with family friends who had a horse in the races. And our horse won, so I got my picture taken with the horse and jockey and those huge garlands :-)
An experience of a lifetime! And yes, I had bet on the horse and won some money too :-)

these are gorgeous photos, viv! i'd never won a horse sweep of any kind...until yesterday, coming second and third - ok, so it wasn't first, but i almost made as much money as the first place getter!!! enjoy your day!
i won an office sweeps once but that so doesn't count. i've never bet myself but those around me who do usually choose names based on family members or something relevant to them. not too serious, clearly! i also didn't stop for the race yesterday - zak was getting his leg jabbed for allergy test during the race. luckily, the nurse closed door to the room with tv in it so wasn't distracted by it and, like, jabbed my leg too or something! haha
i only bet in the office sweep stakes but i never win...oh well lucky in love I say!
