I would paint the floorboards of our home white.
Or even blue if it suited as well as it does this room.

I think white on white on texture on texture is so stunning. But do you ever wonder if at night and under artificial light or a little mess that maybe it's not quite so beautiful? Do you think it has a higher chance of falling flat in every day life?
ReplyDeleteGood point! They look great in photos but I do wonder what they would be like to live with.
ReplyDeleteoh wow that blue floor! it's really funky, a bit too much color for me but lovely to watch
ReplyDeleteA few hundred bucks in paint (less if you don't change it back to the way it was) doesn't take courage! The absolute worst that can happen is you waste time and money ;) No biggie.
ReplyDeleteMy very smart friend Jamie lives by the motto:
"Why the f**k not?"
We actually bit the bullet and painted our floors! The house we bought last fall (in British Columbia, Canada) had really disgusting carpet. In addition to a whole bunch of other renos like raising the ceiling three feet and exposing wooden beams, my handy husband ripped out the carpet and lo and behold, wood floors! But they were damaged by time and moisture, beyond being presentable.
ReplyDeleteRather than replace as we are nearing the end of our budget, we decided to paint! We have done just one coat now as it's fairly intense (not the labour but the odour) but we will do a second coat and then head for an island trip to let it dry and cure over the weekend.
They're a light grey colour and we love them so much we're considering doing all of the bedrooms and my office as well.
Go for it!
PS I'll be posting about the renos when we finally have a presentable home!!
ReplyDeleteHaha Erin, love it!
ReplyDeleteModernGear TV - Sounds lovely! Do let me know how it holds up and when you post about your renos. I haven't ruled it out completely but I dread having to move all of our furniture out to do it.
