Oh Christmas Tree

I'm so sad I haven't been able to post much. The lead up to Christmas is such a crazy time isn't it? Add a new baby to the mix and I'm surprised I'm still sane.
I realised I haven't posted anything Christmas-y. I haven't even got my tree up this year. I know, bad bad bad. But with the choice of putting it up/taking it down vs sleeping - well, sleep won this time.

So I thought I'd post some of my favourite trees from other bloggers which I think are great. So here they are:

Peonies are my favourite flower - how wonderful do they look here?

Drey of bijou kaleidoscope is slowly adding to her collection of ornaments. Check out her gift wrapping! I hope you enjoy Christmas in your new home, drey.

Trina of la la lovely has decorated her tree with ornaments collected from her childhood which I think is special. I think I broke most of my parent's decorations. I used to roll the balls around until they smashed. It's a wonder Santa gave me any gifts!

I adore the ornaments hanging from the twig. A simple and creative way of decorating around the house. I usually stick to just the tree. I might have to put in more effort next year.

Jennifer of MadeByGirl has decorated her white tree with silver decorations. I love how elegant the one colour scheme looks. My tree is somewhat similar but the tree is green and decorations are silver, white, crystal and glass.

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and that Santa is good to you. Santa has given me an early gift this year - a smile from my son.

I'd love to see Akira Isogawa's home

Wow - it's Thursday already. Sorry I've been a bit slack posting this week. The little man and I have been taking any opportunity to explore the world. We've been shopping, visiting friends, doctor's appointments etc. I'm just so glad to be getting out and about!

Anyway, I've been obsessing over Akira's Spring / Summer 2009 collection lately. What I wouldn't do to own one of his beautiful hand painted dresses. This dress would be perfect to wear to my son's christening mid next year but I'm doubtful I can afford it so instead I'll just drool over it.

Also on my drool list is this rug designed by Akira and sold through Designer Rugs.

So it got me thinking, what would Akira's home look like?
If anyone has seen it featured anywhere please point me to where I can find it. Otherwise I definitely think interior magazines needs to get in touch with this genius of a man (if they haven't already tried) and see if he'll let them take a peek into his home. I can only imagine how amazing it would be.

I am an arteest, darling!

Okay maybe not but I'm giving it a go?

Bit of background - my copy of Domino The Book of Decorating came and I was literally drooling over the pages. Beautiful book and very inspiring. Some of the photos I had already seen on the Domino website but since I haven't yet managed to get my hands on the magazine here in Australia there were a lot of new images I hadn't seen before.

The book has inspired me to add some colour to my home by trying my hand at painting - not walls, a canvas. And the inspiration is Page 162 of the book.

I know what you might be thinking, all those beautiful images and I drew inspiration from an image separating a chapter? But look how gorgeous the design is! It is a fabric design by Bob Collins called "Lotus Dynasty".

So here is the painting in progress.

Bet there aren't too many artists out there that trace the design before painting!

I figured if it fails miserably I can always try to get my hands on the fabric and stretch it over the canvas. Does anyone know how I can get hold of the fabric here in Australia? I've searched online with no luck.

Okay, I'm going to get back to it before the paint I've mixed up dries. And Robbie is bound to wake up soon...
